American High School Student Matteo created an algorithm based on artificial intelligence, making it possible to identify 1.5 million unknown objects in space. The results of his work were published in the Astronomical Journal, Phys.org reports.
Astronomy interest in an 18-year-old man arose in elementary school, after studying in a public lecture at the California Technological Institute. He soon started studying Astronomy and Computer Science, and in 2022 he turned to scientist Davi Kipatrik with a request to be his mentor of scientific.
During the study, Matteo decided not to look at the data manu -man, but to create a machine study model that could have been able to find a change of objects in space -from quasars to stars explosion.
In 2024, man improved his model to study data from the wise telescope of Infrared. Development has identified millions of potential new spaces in space. The whole catalog of objects was planned to be published in 2025.
“My model can be used for other studies of temporary astronomy space and, perhaps, for something else to come in a temporary format,” the student said.
For this success, Matteo received the basic prize of the prestigious contest in the scientific regeneron science talent search – $ 250 thousand. Now he works at the California Technological Institute, where he is engaged in processing data from space missions, while finishing the school.
