The discovery has eased the lives of deserted monasteries over 1400 years ago and allows you to deeper understand the life and religious skills of the early Christian communities in the region.
Archaeologists from the Israeli antiquities office discovered a well -seasoned monastery and the Byzantine Period of the Byzantine period during the excavation of the flawless Pekhar, not far from the modern giv’ot bar, reports Armeonews.
According to archaeologists, the monastery is preserved in good condition, thanks to which it provides an idea of the day -to -day life of the monks in the Negev desert in the century of VI.
Most of the artifacts were found only on the floor, indicating the ordered monastery abandoning byzantine or at the beginning of the Omayyad period. The monks probably left the monastery due to security deterioration during the transition until the early Islamic period.

Mosaic found in the monastery chapel
One of the most significant found is the mosaic in the chapel: the Maltese Cross is depicted in its center, and below – the Greek inscription on three lines with the name of the monastery and the names of the four monks living there. In the nearby rooms, artifacts that reflect life are found: jugs, kitchen dishes and backward floor, perhaps for installing blood vessels.
The complexity of the monastery includes a chapel, a refetory, kitchen, household area and a wine. The walls of the main building are strengthened, giving it the appearance of a strengthened structure.
Two epitaphs, written in red-brown ink, confirm that the area was used for the funeral.
Not far, south of the monastery, archaeologists found a farm with a rectangular patrol tower. The coin found on floor dates from the first half of the VI century.
We remind you, earlier that it was reported that in Israel a three -year -old girl found a 3800 -year -old seal in excavations.
In France, a regulation was found for more than three thousand years
