The new method of voice synthesis has removed the delay and the user’s thoughts in real time.
The new brain implant allows a woman who has lost its ability to speak, even real time thoughts, science alert reports.
The implant on the woman’s head examines the brain activity with an interval of 80 millisecond and turns it to the real time in a synthesized version of the voice.
The difference from the old methods is the lack of delay -most of the existing methods require the software to check the entire text before deciphering its value, which can significantly tight seconds between the beginning of speech and vocalization. This is not only not a baby, but can also cause discomfort in system users. In addition, existing methods rely on the user as a dictator who practices in the interface, repeated -motion when expressing, which may use problems for people who are not skilled or always difficult to speak.
To overcome these problems, researchers from the United States taught the neural network of in-depth study based on the 47-year-old cerebral cortex’s cerebral cortex activity, as he silently “pronounced” 100 unique sentences using more than 1000 different words.
The research team also reviewed the effectiveness of the new system when using a “auxiliary” communication form based on 50 phrases using a smaller set of words. In both ways, the average number of translated words per minute is almost twice as long as the old system analogues.
Launching the process in autonomous mode without time restrictions, the team also noted that their approach could interpret neural signals that represent the words they were not trained.
The woman’s voice was synthesized based on previous records of her speech.
The study was published in the scientific journal Nature Neuroscience.
We reminded, earlier reported that scientists from the USA were called a certain age at which brain activity worsened.
