The agreement is in the interests of Russia and the United States and will help develop cooperation, according to Roscosmos.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA and the Russian Roscosmos have entered into an agreement on cross-flights of the combined crew on the manned spacecraft of the United States and the Russian Federation. This was reported on the Telegram channel of Roscosmos on Friday, July 15.
“The agreement aims to ensure that in the event of an emergency situation associated with the cancellation or significant delay in the launch of a Russian or American spacecraft, the presence on the ISS of at least one Roscosmos cosmonaut and one NASA astronaut to serve the Russian and American segment, respectively, ” – said in the message.
Roscosmos also believes that the agreement is in the interests of Russia and the United States and will contribute to the development of cooperation within the framework of the ISS program and the effective implementation of projects for exploration and space exploration for peaceful purposes. .
It was previously reported that Russia was in talks with flights of astronauts on the Crew Dragon ships. We are talking about the so-called cross flight, when American astronauts went to the ISS on the Russian Soyuz, which replaced the astronauts flying in American vehicles.
Such a program was operated until 2011, after which the delivery of crews to the ISS was carried out only by Russian ships. Russia’s monopoly was broken in May 2020 when a SpaceX ship called Crew Dragon-2 with four astronauts on board flew from Cape Canaveral.
