For several years now, the Supreme Council of Literary and Artistic Property (SCPL) has been observing and predicting new phenomena in the framework of the respect of copyright and related rights. The body has been charged with a study mission on NFTs by the end of 2021. The goal was to analyze the trading of these digital assets, the latest objects of which are needed “to provide the legal framework for the release of use”, as the name of the report suggests. During six months, more than 60 representatives and qualified persons from the fields of digital economy and culture were interviewed.
