For the first time in history, Ship will attempt to deploy a payload into space in the form of 10 mock-up satellites “similar in size and weight to the next generation of Starlink satellites.”
The American company SpaceX intends to carry out the seventh launch of the Starship rocket system on January 13. Space.com reported this.
The launch of the 122-meter Starship rocket system is planned at 23:00 Kyiv time from the cosmodrome in South Texas (USA).
The 50m-tall upper part of the Starship, known only as the Ship, will blast off in the Indian Ocean on Monday, as it has on its last three flights.
SpaceX will also try to take things to the next level with its upcoming seventh mission.
For the first time in history, Ship will attempt to deploy a payload into space in the form of 10 mock-up satellites “similar in size and weight to the next-generation Starlink satellite as the first satellite deployment test mission.”
The company hopes Starship will help it complete the creation of a large satellite constellation that could number more than 40,000 spacecraft. Today there are less than seven thousand of them in space.
As you know, Starship has flown six times – twice in 2023 and in March, June, October and November last year.
Let’s remember that on December 18, the American company SpaceX launched two communications satellites O3b mPOWER 7 and 8 into space for the Luxembourg company SES.
Earlier, on November 24, SpaceX launched a new batch of 20 Starlink Internet satellites into low-Earth orbit.
