As a result of the emergency, the Starlink satellite was deployed to a lower orbit than expected.
The launch of the Falcon 9 vehicle on Friday, July 12, failed to launch the next batch of 20 Starlink mini-satellites into their intended orbit. This was reported by the press service of the development company SpaceX.
“During today’s Falcon 9 launch of the Starlink satellites, the second stage engine did not complete its secondary burn. As a result, the Starlink satellites were deployed to a lower orbit than expected. SpaceX has been contacted in five satellites and trying to raise their orbit with ion engines.” , the message said.
The rocket was launched from a launch pad in California.
Since May 2019, SpaceX has launched more than 6.7 thousand satellites as part of the Starlink project. More than 6.2 thousand devices are in orbit in working condition, others are out of order or have left orbit.
The Starlink Internet network is available to users in 72 countries. This makes SpaceX the world’s largest satellite operator.
We remind you that the Pentagon has extended the contract with the SpaceX company of the American entrepreneur Elon Musk for another six months to provide Starlink Internet services to Ukraine.
