The planet is located 66 light-years from Earth and orbits its star HD 104067 every 2.2 days.

Astronomers have discovered an exoplanet covered in so many volcanoes that the molten surface emits a fiery red color. Space.com reported it.

The planet is known to be located 66 light-years from Earth and orbits its star HD 104067 every 2.2 days at a distance of 4.57 million kilometers.

“This is a terrestrial planet that I would describe as Io on steroids,” said Stephen Kane of the University of California, Riverside, referring to the volcanic moon of Jupiter – the most active volcanic body in the solar system, with lava plains covering every inch of it. surface – but it can be considered manual when compared to TOI-6713.01.

Like Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun, TOI-6713.01’s orbit is highly elliptical. Mercury is located quite far from the blazing star, while the open space object is actually just a stone’s throw away.

The movement of this cosmic body is influenced by the gravitational force of two adjacent planets. This interaction causes TOI-6713.01’s interior to melt and deform as it orbits its star. Because the planet’s distance from the star is constantly changing as it moves in an elliptical orbit, Kane calls this phenomenon a “tidal storm.”

The storm’s tidal force in turn heats the interior of TOI-6713.01, giving that planet enough energy to cause volcanic eruptions across its surface.

“This causes the planet’s molten surface to reach a temperature of 2,327°C, making it hotter than some low-mass stars,” added Stephen Kane.

It was previously reported that astronomers discovered a massive black hole formed as a result of the explosion of a star just 2,000 light years from Earth.
