Harbin Institute of Technology and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation unveiled China’s first science center called the Space Environment Modeling and Research Center (SESR). It covers an area of 50 football fields, the press service reports.
It is a simulator capable of adapting to environmental conditions for various space explorations. It has four main laboratories that study the effects of space dust, temperature fluctuations and charged particle levels on spacecraft and astronauts.
SESR’s goal is to accelerate scientific research by providing the ability to conduct experiments on the ground, which previously required sending equipment into space. This makes research more controlled, safe and accessible.
