Scientists are urging the public to report sightings of largemouth sharks to increase scientific knowledge about this enigmatic species and help conserve its numbers.
A rare pelogical largemouth shark (Megachasma pelagios) has been caught in Zanzibar waters. It was later sold in the local market for $17. This is reported by Live Science.
A fishing boat accidentally hits a shark, whose body washes up on a beach on Pemba Island. There the local residents took him in and decided to sell him.
This type of shark was first discovered in 1976 and since then less than 280 individuals have been recorded worldwide.
