The author calls himself Richard. He said that he came from Donetsk: he did not know the Ukrainian language, but in the last two years he learned it on his own with the help of dictionaries.
A gaming blogger with the nickname Papuga developed an unofficial localization of the game in Ukraine The Witcher 3. He also made additions to it. The blogger talked about it on his YouTube channel.
It took nine months to translate the game – about 1000 hours. In addition, the blogger needs another 200 hours to complete the test.
“It is not possible to localize story scenes, loading screens and logos: I don’t have enough programming skills. Instead of “view” I wrote “vidit”, “paint” I wrote “paint”, “nail” became “nail”, etc. I refused to spell the spelling in 1933, the Soviet authorities imposed to make the Ukrainian language more like Russian, for example, instead of the specific Ukrainian word “garden” they popularized “vegetable”, “comedian” and “Big Bear” was replaced by “comedian” and “Great Viz”. But I prefer the rules of “Kharkov” in 1928 – the so-called that skripnikovka,” he said.
The events of the game take place in the 13th century. Papuga used archaisms – the preposition “od”: “odkriti”, “oddchiniti”, “odrazu”.
Download the Ukrainian localization of the game The Witcher 3 available on the Nexus Mods platform.
We remind you that the release date of the game STALKER 2 was announced earlier: The heart of Chernobyl. This is the fourth postponement since the gameplay was presented in 2021.
