In the Pyrenees on the border of France and Spain, 89% of resorts face a high risk of lack of snow.
European ski resorts will remain snow-free. This is stated in a new study conducted on more than 2,000 resorts.
The reason is global warming.
Researchers say that if temperatures rise 2°C above pre-industrial levels, 53% of resorts are at risk of being left without snow cover.
And with a further 4 °C increase in temperature, the effectiveness of artificial snow will decrease significantly. Then, 71% of resorts are at very high risk of lack of snow cover.
In the Pyrenees on the border of France and Spain, 89% of resorts face a high risk of a lack of snow if temperatures rise by 2°C.
We remind you that scientists believe that global warming is irreversible.
