The coronavirus pandemic has ended in the world, but cases of the disease continue to be recorded in Ukraine.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine emphasized that the general recommended course of vaccination against the coronavirus is three vaccinations, one of which is a booster. The fourth and fifth doses are seasonal boosters that should only be given to people at risk for severe COVID-19. The chief state sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Igor Kuzin, announced this on Thursday, October 5.
“This is the generally recommended course of vaccination against Covid for every person. Two doses of primary vaccination, and the first booster, which is given five months after completing the main primary complex,” he said.
Subsequent vaccinations, that is, the fourth, fifth or other boosters, are called seasonal boosters.
“And it should be done only for patients who are at risk of severe Covid: age over 60 years, serious co-morbidities,” said Igor Kuzin.
He added that the risk group, in particular, includes people with a weak immune system or related diseases, pregnant women, and people aged 60+.
Vaccination against COVID-19 in Ukraine remains free. You can make an appointment for vaccination with your family doctor and vaccination sites.
We remind you that in the past week more than four thousand people fell ill with the coronavirus in Ukraine, including 302 children.
We remind you that on May 5, the World Health Organization announced the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, and on July 1, the quarantine was lifted in Ukraine.
