On Friday, April 7, another round of the annual expedition of polar explorers took place at the Akademik Vernadsky station – the 28th began work, and the 27th returned to Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on Facebook.
“Polar explorers and polar explorers of the 27th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition, who worked in Antarctica for a year, returned home. Members of the seasonal detachment, who carried out technical and scientific work for several months, returned with them. But Vernadsky began work on the 28th UAE,” the report said.
In the coming year, the team of the new Ukrainian Antarctic expedition will conduct geophysical, meteorological and biological research, as well as ensure the life of the station.

“Despite the great war and all the enemy’s attempts to destroy us, we continue and firmly hold the Antarctic front,” said Evgeniy Dikiy, director of the National Antarctic Research Center.
According to him, during these 408 days, none of the main measurements and studies were stopped for a minute, most of them last for decades and are very important for global science.
