WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus urged Russia to immediately end the war and assessed the need for increased assistance to Ukrainians affected by the Russian aggression.
The World Health Organization has confirmed 200 attacks on medical facilities in Ukraine since the war began. This was stated by WHO Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus, urging Russia to stop this war, UNN reports.
On May 6, WHO leader Tedros Ghebreyesus arrived in Ukraine. He assessed the necessary amount of increased assistance to Ukrainians affected by the Russian aggression. Speaking in Kyiv after a two -day visit to Ukraine, Tedros said he was very impressed with what he saw and heard. Ghebreyesus said the attacks on medical facilities should stop, adding:
“There is one medicine that Ukraine cannot deliver and needs more than others, and that is the world. Therefore, we continue to call on the Russian Federation to stop this war.”
According to Gebreyesus, the organization will continue to support the Ukrainian healthcare system.
“My time here has had a huge impact on me personally. As someone who grew up in a war zone, I understand very well how the people in Ukraine feel. I know the impact, I know the devastation of the war in the first place. hand, and I was very, very sad when Russia invaded Ukraine, ”Gebreyesus said.
