Twitter CEO, Elon Musksuggested on Monday that users will soon see changes to the platform’s direct messaging and group chat features.
User Twitter posted a poll on Monday morning asking if Musk should “add the ability to long press and reply to a specific message in private messages and group chats, and @ to mention someone in groups?”
Musk simply responded to the tweet by saying, “Yes.”

Nearly 8,500 users voted in the poll, with 83.1% of respondents supporting the idea and 16.9% saying they would. Twitter should retain the existing functions regarding direct messages.
The ability to reply to specific messages already exists on other platforms, including iMessage, Slack, and GroupMe. The ability to mention someone’s username in a group is a feature of Slack and GroupMe.

This happens after a number of changes have been made to Twitter since Musk bought the platform last year for $44 billion.
Last week, the platform announced that only paying Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to use text messages as a two-factor authentication method to secure their accounts starting March 20. Other accounts will still be able to use the authenticator app or security key.
Other changes to the platform since Musk took over include a confirmation icon and the ability to edit tweets for Twitter Blue followers. Twitter it also increases the character limit from 280 to 4000 characters.
