Elon Musk declared his interest in the revival of the classic video platform: Came.

Billionaire, owner Twitter he announced this through a series of tweets on his personal account, where he stated that “we need an even better version of Came” back.

Why revive Vine?

Apparently Twitter He is already working to bring this social network back.

“It’s a tragedy like Twitter killed periscope and Came”- wrote a user on February 10. “Some of my best memories in Twitter had to work on these applications. Bring it back @elonmusk,” was the request, to which the mogul responded.

Musk already explored the answer last year, polling, as he usually does with big decisions, on Came. 70% of his followers voted for his comeback.

Billionaire Sees Came as a weapon against tik tak, a short video platform owned by Chinese giant Bytedance. The platform is popular among Generation Z and millennials, and advertisers are competing for space on it.

As we remember, Musk is looking for a way Twitter can generate millions of dollars in revenue, so this new field could be useful given the slow growth of Twitter Blue subscriptions.

vine history

Came was created in June 2012. Even before the official launch, the startup attracted the attention of Jack Dorsey, co-founder Twitter. The platform has acquired Came at the end of 2012 for $30 million.

Released in January 2013, Came it became the most downloaded free app in the US. Its big selling point was the format (six-second videos that loop) and ease of use.

Due to competition from Snapchat and Instagram, the number of users on the app began to decline. October 2016 Came it was discontinued.
