Experts noted that this is the first discovery of a fully preserved 16-meter scroll in a century.
Archaeologists at the Sacquara necropolis near Cairo discovered a papyrus scroll containing texts from the Book of the Dead. It is called the Waziri Papyrus and is being translated into Arabic. This was reported by ArsTechnica.
It is known that the scroll was in one of the sarcophagi. According to experts, its size is almost nine meters. It was sent to the laboratory of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo for further study.
After the papyrus was fully restored, its actual size was 16 meters. And now scientists have confirmed that the scroll does indeed contain spells from the Book of the Dead.
However, scholars note that these “books” are actually collections of funerary texts and spells to aid the dead in their journey to the underworld (Duat), and not to bring people back from the dead. .
It was previously reported that next to the tomb of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen, archaeologists have unearthed a pyramid of an as yet unknown queen.
Scientists have named a new reason for the creation of mummies
