Twitter continues to evolve after becoming the property of Elon Musk, and many innovations within the platform are rushing to increase the rate of return for a company that has not yet found a “sustainable monetization” formula. Against this background, and after the creation of Twitter Blue, Musk risks a system similar to Reddit and TikTok: “Coins” and the “For you” column.
In the case of the “For You” section, Twitter has already begun to change the main interface, replacing the star icon in the upper right corner, which led us to the chronological order of tweets, with a new column next to “following”. titled “For You”. According to The Verge, the feature is coming to iOS first.
This feature was predicted by Elon Musk a few weeks ago, highlighting the need “A timeline that should make it easy to navigate between the latest, most popular, trending and conversation topics we follow.”
Twitter Coins: monetize everything
Code researcher Jane Manchun Wong announced via her Twitter account the discovery of a code on the social network that will allow creators to receive support on the platform.
“Coins allow you to support creators who tweet great content. Unused coins are stored on your balance”, indicates a notification posted by an analyst.
The prize list, a system used on Reddit to promote the community or content creators, ranges from a simple one-coin blow to a 5,000-coin Gold Cup.
These Twitter coins will be purchased through Stripe, a mobile payment system founded in 2010 that, like Jack Dorsey’s Square, charges per transaction rather than a subscription.
At the same time, there is still no official announcement of its appearance in the service or the value assigned to each currency on Twitter. Although cryptocurrencies are not specifically mentioned as a payment method, Stripe accepts these types of transactions.
