SpaceX getting ready for the mission Polaris Dawn no earlier than March 2023 with a maximum goal: to make the first private spacewalk.
With the event approaching, crew members passed important tests before their first private extravehicular (EVA) or spacewalk.
This will be a mission
Polaris Dawn This will be the first of three missions Polaris program. It is commanded by billionaire Jared Isaacman, who also traveled to space on Inspiration4.
Four private astronauts (Isaacman, along with Scott Potit, Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon) will travel to low Earth orbit (LEO) at maximum range to spend five days conducting science experiments. The height to which they will rise is 700 kilometers above sea level, which is 300 more than the International Space Station.
At this location in space, crew members will attempt the world’s first commercial spacewalk. It will also be the first time that the team will don the new suit designed by SpaceX and test Starlink laser communications in space.
In their ground testing, the team participated in the study of decompression sickness (DCS), which they may experience during a spacewalk. It occurs when a sudden drop in air pressure creates bubbles of nitrogen gas in the body that cause joint pain, skin damage, numbness, muscle tingling, or physical fatigue.
In addition, at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, the crew learned to monitor and report symptoms of DCS, as well as understand the likelihood of it occurring during their actual mission.
scientific end
Missions Polaris will greatly affect the plans SpaceX space colonization.
In addition to the important goals of this original launch, the third of them will be launched aboard the Starship rocket, with which the company wants to reach the Moon and Mars.
Said ship hopes to make its first mission in 2023 if it manages to fly with billionaire Yusaku Maezawa’s DearMoon project. However, this may be delayed if he still does not test his orbital flight on our planet.
