Noted that the find is more than 2000 years old, there are artifacts from the time, from Bronze Age burial mounds to Roman buildings.

British archaeologists have found a Roman ritual sanctuary. It was discovered in excavations near Northampton in England. This was reported by Heritage Daily.

The oldest find is a Bronze Age barrow. This form of burial has been dated to around 2000 BC. e. – 1500 BC e. At the same time, no human remains were found in the mound. There are only five burial urns from the Bronze Age without corresponding funerary items.

“The fact that no human remains were found in the mound suggests that it may have had a more symbolic than functional purpose,” adding that “preexisting associations prompted Bronze Age people to choose this site to build a ritual monument,” experts said. .

Also found at the site was a large amount of pottery and several water tanks containing 2,000-year-old organic remains of willow flowers, pine cones, walnut shells, and a whole leather shoe.

And yet – the foundations of a Roman building from the period between 43 and 410 years of our era. The building itself has two defined rooms and a staircase decorated with painted stucco.

“This may be a sanctuary associated with a nearby spring. The Romans often built sanctuaries and temples across Britain at sites that had a bad reputation in ancient times,” the scientists added.
