The Mulhouse prosecutor’s office announced Thursday that a second potential victim had been heard as part of an investigation into the rape and sexual assault of a minor targeting former Olympic champion swimmer Yannick Agnelli, confirming reports from L’Équipe and RTL.

30-year-old Yanik Agnel was accused in December 2021 of “rape and sexual assault of a 15-year-old minorand subject to judicial supervision. The complaint was filed by the daughter of his former coach Lionel Horter, for facts dating back to 2016. He was 13 at the time, and the swimmer was 24.
A few weeks after this indictment, the prosecution expanded the investigation by issuing an additional indictment on the facts.sexual violence against a minor under 15 years of ageon another potential victim, says Edwige Roux-Morizo.
Yannick Agnel’s lawyer did not respond to AFP inquiries.
Yannick Agnel has one of the best records in French swimming. he was a two-time Olympic champion in the 200m freestyle and 4x100m relay at London 2012, before becoming world champion in both events in 2013.
He had moved into e-sports and, before the complaint and its accusations were published, had led a consulting career at several media outlets, including the France Télévisions group and FranceInfo.
The swimmer had also started writing, and was supposed to tell about his grandfather’s story, but the publication of the book was canceled by Arthaud publications.
