France striker Christopher Nkunku, a last-minute package at the World Cup, is suffering from a torn external ligament in his left knee, his club Leipzig said on Saturday, without being able to say how long he would be out. The 25-year-old injured his knee at the very end of the session in Clairfontein on Tuesday night in a challenge that ended the Blues’ final training session before traveling to Doha.

However, Leipzig did not mention the length of the Bundesliga’s current top scorer’s absence (12 goals). “There are several options to heal this injury,” explained the East German club, who are third in the league, six points behind Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga will resume on January 20 after the World Cup in Qatar (November 20-December 18), and Leipzig will move to Munich. “Red Bulls” will meet with “Manchester City” in the playoffs of the Champions League on February 22 and March 14.
