WNBA. Britney Griner, still detained in Russia, sent a letter to Joe Biden

WNBA star Brittney Griner, who has been detained in Russia for more than four months, had her representatives write a letter to the White House on Monday asking President Joe Biden to help bring her home.

“I’m terrified of being here forever. I understand that you are dealing with so much, but please don’t forget me and the other prisoners. Please do everything to get us home.” He wrote in his letter to the White House, which acknowledged receipt of the letter.

“I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted for you. I believe in your strength. I still have so much to do with my freedom that you can help restore. I miss my wife. I miss my family. I miss my teammates.” continued the 31-year-old American player.

Britney Greener’s representatives announced that they would not release the letter in its entirety in order not to disclose the conditions of detention and the harsh treatment she will suffer in Russia.

According to the American woman’s Russian lawyers, she has been allowed to send and receive messages from the United States, although they are largely monitored by Russian authorities.

Brittney Griner, who was arrested on February 17th with cannabis oil and vaporizers, chose the symbolic date of July 4th to send her letter to Washington, just days before Russian troops invaded Ukraine. Americans celebrated their main national holiday, Independence Day, on Monday.

“On the 4th of July, our family usually honors the service of the men who fought for our freedom, including my father, who is a veteran of the Vietnam War. It’s sad to think how I usually celebrate this day, because freedom means something completely different to me this year.” can also read

The trial, behind closed doors with limited media access, began last week at a court in the Moscow suburb of Khimki. Brittner Greener faces up to 10 years in prison.
