American golfer Bryson De Shambo, the winner of the 2020 US Open, in his turn, joined the dissident LIV League, which was announced on Friday by the organizers of this parallel circle, who have been shaking the greens for months.
His rally was announced on the second day of the opening tournament in London, which is the first of eight matches scheduled by LIV this year.
The $ 25 million prize pool for each tournament, sponsored by Saudi Arabia, far exceeds the bonuses of the US PGA Tour, which organizes most professional golf courses.
“Bryson DeChambeau is a promising addition to the enhanced golf style of the LIV League”, commented Greg Norman, the golf legend, the leader of the dissident league. “He is passionate about our sport, he is innovative in his approach, he wants to go beyond his aspirations,” he added.
At the age of 28, De Shambo is currently ranked 28th in the world. He has won ten tournaments since making his professional debut.
He should be removed from the US PGA Tour list, which announced on Thursday the suspension of 17 golfers registered for the LIV Tour’s opening tournament in St Albans, north London, and warned anyone who joins the dissident. The league will suffer the same consequences.
