Cesar Cervantes, the interior minister, said on Sunday that he was not responsible for the deaths reported during demonstrations in various provinces of the country as part of protests against Government to advance elections and close Congress.
This is how the minister answered the question about the actions National Police and Armed forces in the protests that take place in the regions of Apurimac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junin, Arequipa and La Libertad.
“I do not bear any responsibility, I want to note that in the face of social overcrowding, in the face of these acts of vandalism, which you have seen how they affect public places, private places, how they set fire to, all this, within the constitutional framework, there is a state of emergency. Armed forces in support or at work with their national police (they were active),” he said.
“Sorrow and condolences to each of our fellow citizens, but there can be no disorder, chaos in the country,” he added.
