Flavio Cruza spokesman for the Peru Libre bench, said that he and three other parliamentarians from the group supported admission to the nomination process for a presidential candidate against Pedro Castillo.
According to him, Valdemar Cerrón, Flavio Cruz, Margot Palacios and Anel Reyes supported the initiative to participate in the debate; however, he assured that they will finally vote against this request, which can be seen next Wednesday, the 7th of this month.
“After yesterday’s meeting, we had a definite position, but there were some circumstances. We voted separately, but I think because of the last incident with the setting of the date, we made a decision pretty quickly. and we’re going to vote against the vacancy. We cannot support an authoritarian board of directors,” he told RPP Noticias.
Flavio Cruz stated that the fact of postponing the date of the presidential speech Pedro Castillo before the plenary session of the Congress, when it had already been agreed that it would take place on December 12th. As you know, now the president is due to appear next Wednesday, the 7th of this month.
“All those who voted in favor may have had the illusion of adding these votes, (but) they lost them after the authoritarianism shown by the Table in the last circumstances of the close of the session. The agreement was to vote for admission, because we wanted to participate in the meeting, in the debate (…), but those who voted for will vote against,” he added.
Hours earlier, on his Twitter account, a spokesman for Peru Libre indicated that his vote was determined by a banking agreement because the executive branch was “not respecting” his region of Puno.
“Regarding the acceptance of the job offer: my vote is in agreement with Bancada and protest because the executive branch does not comply with the requirements of my region. Since the admission is a formality, my vote will be against, because this is an appeal of the people, especially against the authoritarian board of directors, ”he wrote on the social network.
Third job offer against Pedro Castillo
The plenary session of Congress approved by 73 votes in favor, 32 against and 6 abstentions the admission to the discussion of the proposal for the vacancy of the president, submitted last Tuesday, November 29, by legislator Edward Malaga-Trillo (not grouped).
If a minimum of 87 votes is reached to approve a vacancy against the President, the person responsible for changing the head of state will be Vice President Dina Boluarte, as provided by the Constitution.
The announcement will become official after being published in the official newspaper of El Peruano. With this modification and the holding of a solemn meeting, Boluarte will begin his presidential activities.
