Lizzie changed the lyrics of her new song, “Grrrls,” after listeners noticed it was a capable insult.
“I realize there’s a hurtful word in my new song,” the Grammy-winning singer wrote on Instagram Monday. “Let me tell you one thing: I don’t want to promote stressful language. As a fat black woman in America, I’ve used a lot of bad words against myself, so I understand what the word of power (intentionally or in my case, unintentionally).
There is a new version of the song with a change of lyrics.
“It’s the result of my listening and my acting. “As an influential artist, I am committed to being part of the change I hope to see in the world,” he wrote.
In the opening verse of the new single, Lizzie sang: “See this nonsense? I am an esprit.

This is an offensive and insulting term. As someone who writes about the language use of people with disabilities, especially the slang words used in schools, this is a big step back.
