Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), Co-chair of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attack, said on Sunday that the panel’s findings caused her more trouble. concerned about the threat to US democracy.
“It’s always a threat.” Cheney said this in an interview with CBS News Attempts to de-legitimize U.S. elections by former President Donald Trump and his allies. “It is very extensive. It is very well organized. It’s really cool. “
“I didn’t learn anything that lowered my anxiety,” he said.
Cheney, a prominent Trump critic who voted for his impeachment last year, was one of the Republicans on the panel. He was ousted from the party leadership position after repeatedly speaking out against the former president and his lies in the 2020 election and faced a Trump-backed rival for his re-election.
The attack investigative committee will hold six public hearings this month. It will publish the results of more than 1,000 interviews and 100,000 pages of documents related to Trump’s crusade to stay in power.
Cheney said he is confident the committee’s findings will wake people up.
“People need to pay attention. “People need to watch and they need to realize how easily our democratic system collapses if we don’t protect it,” he said.
The first hearing will take place on Friday at 8 p.m.
