According to officials, seven people were killed over the intense weekend in the Georgia ocean, including one who drowned in a lake with a dark history.
According to the Georgian Department of Natural Resources, five people were killed and four were injured when two boats collided on the Wilmington River near Savannah on Saturday. Four of the dead were from one family. Researchers could not find the three bodies until Sunday morning.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated. One of the survivors was charged with navigating under the influence of Savannah’s Morning News Reported.

“Today has been a difficult day,” said Bill Coster, head of Chatham County Emergency Services Operations. He told reporters on Saturday after the collision.
The city is also mourning the drowning of 5-year-old Kaiden Franklin, who went missing Saturday in a sailing match on Lake Alatona, Clear Creek, in northwest Georgia. According to the Georgian DNR, his body was found that same afternoon.
