Advocate Pedro Cartolin Pastor announced in his statement of withdrawal of his candidacy for the position of Ombudsman by a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Special Commission for the Selection of Candidates for the Position of Ombudsman, Idelso Manuel Garcia Correa.
In the document, he states that the withdrawal of his candidacy is irrevocable, and indicates that the said decision is in line with “purely personal and professional” issues.
“(…) I inform you of my irrevocable decision to withdraw my candidature from the Ombudsman election process, which is taking place in Congress of the Republic (…) I made this decision after deep reflection, so I must point out that purely personal and professional reasons forced me to make this firm decision, ”Pedro Kartolina said in a statement.
He then thanked the political parties Podemos Perú and Somos Perú for inviting him to participate in this selection process “with the sole and noble purpose of contributing to the protection and promotion of fundamental human and social rights.”
Finally, Pastor Kartolin I wish you good luck in the selection process Ombudsman “counting on the assurance that the person chosen will carry out the mandate fully and independently in accordance with our Political Constitution.”
“In view of what is stated in this letter, I would be grateful if you would kindly consider my request to withdraw my candidacy from the Ombudsman election process,” the conclusion reads.
Ombudsman Candidates
Recall that the Special Commission for the Selection of Candidates for Elections in Ombudsman agreed to propose lawyers to the plenary session of the Congress of the Republic Pedro Cartolin Pastor, Jorge Rioja Vallejos And Josu Gutierrez Condor.
In accordance with the sequence established the day before, voting will begin with candidate Pedro Cartolín Pastor, and if he does not receive the 87 votes required to declare the winner of the national representation, Jorge Luis Rioja Vallejos will continue.
Given the departure of Kartolin Pastor, the process will be carried out with Jorge Luis Rioja Vallejos as the first candidate. If said elections are not successful, the vote for Josue Gutiérrez Condor will continue.
