The executive branch has appointed the General of Armaments of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), Victor Isaias Montoya Mori, as the new inspector general of the aforementioned institution. The information was published this Thursday, April 27, in the official newspaper of El Peruano.
By Supreme Decree No. 075-2023-IN, it was decided to “promote to the rank of Lieutenant General to General of Armaments of the National Police of Peru, Victor Isaias Montoya Moriin accordance with what is specified in the considered part of this.
It was also arranged “that the Executive Secretary National Police of Peru take appropriate measures in the areas of its competence in accordance with the current legal norms”.
The norm was approved by the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, and the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Romero, for publication.
Government declares state of emergency in Tacna due to immigration crisis
Last Wednesday, April 26, the government declared a state of emergency in the departments of Tumbes, Piura, Cajamarca, Amazonas, Loreto, Madre de Dios and Tacna due to the migration crisis registered on the border separating Peru and Chile.
For weeks, Venezuelan, Colombian and Haitian migrants have been stranded on the southern border. National Directorate of Migration I refused them entry due to lack of documents.
“This measure will allow for police operations related to the control of our borders in order to maintain internal order and the constitutional rights of the population,” said President Dina Boluarte.
