Last Friday, Health Minister Rosa Gutierrez reported a slight rise in COVID-19 cases in Lime and other regions of the country in recent weeks.

“We are in epidemiological week 11 and we have determined that the number of cases has increased in Lime, Provinces of Lima, Ica and in the north of our country,” the head Minsa on this occasion.

In this regard, the executive director of the health sector, Maria Elena Martinezin dialogue with RPP newsFaced with this information, he stressed the importance of citizens being able to complete their vaccination regimen against the disease and gain access to a bivalent vaccine booster.

“The protocol specified Minsa This vaccination is for people over 60 years old, for people with concomitant diseases, for people over 18 who have already been vaccinated. Only two months must elapse since the last dose to be applied bivalent vaccine”, accurate.

It should be noted that the said protocol stated that in order to use a bivalent vaccine, citizens must have fourth dose monovalent vaccine. However, Martinez indicated that 3 previous doses were sufficient.

“People with 3 doses they can get a bivalent vaccine, especially now that winter is coming and things are getting more difficult and everyone needs to be protected,” he said.

In addition, he pointed out that those who lost their vaccination card and therefore did not go for vaccination can now go to the modules without any problems.

“If you have lost your card, you can go to the vaccination point, because the teams can filter information on the digital platform and determine which vaccine is missing (…) Even if you have forgotten your card, go to the vaccination modules. because through the Internet we can determine which vaccine is missing,” he stressed.

more contagious options

Regarding the rise in COVID-19 cases, Minsa’s chief executive indicated that there have been no hospitalizations due to the disease to date.

“As you have seen, in recent weeks we have had a slight increase in the number of cases COVID-19 that while it is true they were not hospitalized and did not use ICU beds, we are concerned that the disease could leave consequences such as what is called Long Covid,” he said.

In this sense, he said that in this increase in the number of cases, the “troubling” thing is that they are options. “more contagious” which may leave consequences in patients over 60 years of age or with comorbidities.

“These consequences can be disability, discomfort, and can fundamentally affect people over 60, those with comorbidities, children (…) These options are a little more contagious than the previous ones. Just like in them, it manifests itself in respiratory problems and can more affect vulnerable people with pneumonia problems,” he said.

“There is fatigue, there is a temperature, discomfort, maybe mucus. It’s like a cold, which starts to get worse later. For this reason, we cannot lower our guard or forget about preventive measures, such as washing our hands,” he stressed. .

For this reason, he urged the public not to neglect prevention protocols against COVID-19.

“From Minsa, we continue to recommend hand washing, wearing a mask in transport and medical institutions and hospitals as preventive measures. But the most important thing is vaccination. We must not let our guard down,” he said.
