Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Alberto OtarolaIn press statements, he said he was confident Parliament would file a vacancy motion against President Dina Boluarte.
“The request for a vacancy against the president, I must remember, was a request from the political group of Ms. Betsy Chavez which was presented in the second half of January and that Congress will have to be processed in accordance with all parliamentary procedures (…) We believe that the national representation will file such an absurd request on file,” he said.
As you know, next Thursday the plenary session of the Congress will consider the motion filed against the president for a nomination for the presidency on the subject of “permanent moral incapacity.” This petition was accepted on January 26 and on the same day sent to the head of state by the chairman of the parliament. Jose Williams.
Congressman’s motion Nieves Limachi and signed by over 20 parliamentarians from the left benches, motivated by the 44 deaths to date that were recorded as part of the protests against the government and Congress that began on 7 December.
“We live in peace and tranquility”
On the other hand, with regard to recent claims by under-investigated businessman Henry Shimabukuro that he would finance the 2021 presidential campaign at the request of then-candidate Dina Boluarte, the premier indicated that this was a “new attempt” by mafia former President Pedro Castillo to destabilize the government.
“This is the mafia’s new attempt Pedro Castillo to destabilize the government. First, they tried to seize power (…) by violence and suffered a crushing defeat in the streets from the very population that is now live in peace and quiet”, he stressed.
He also indicated that they tried to bring the “problem” to Congress through interpellation motions against cabinet members and the aforementioned motion for presidential vacancies.
“They tried to bring this issue to Congress by raising a number of interpellationsthe job request itself (…) What we must not lose sight of is the organized campaign of people under investigation within a criminal organization, as prosecution”, he stressed.
“We will always act firmly and vigorously in defense of the life, integrity and security of the Peruvians and the constitutional rule of law,” he added.
