The Ministry of Health announced this Wednesday the termination of the appointment of a doctor Henry Rebaza as Deputy Minister of Benefits and Insurance in a resolution published in the newspaper Peruvian man. The official barely lasted two months in office.
Rebaza has been investigating by Minsa since last Monday after he was allegedly found drinking liquor in a restaurant following official activities in Ayacucho.
A group of protesters kicked an official and his comrades out of a restaurant in Ayacucho on Monday for catching them drunk all day. After the incident, Minsa indicated that if there is any functional responsibility, administrative measures will be taken.
A video went viral on social media showing a bottle of wine under the table where Rebaza was sitting, drinking with other people. “The Vice Minister of Health is taking working time with his entourage,” the person who filmed the moment can be heard speaking.
Other people, upon seeing the Minsa official, yell “killer” at him and throw eggs at both him and his security personnel. Therefore, the ministry also expressed its rejection of this incident.
Henry Rebaza took over as vice minister on 15 December last year, under current sector minister Rosa Gutiérrez.
Minister apologizes
Health Minister Rosa Gutiérrez apologized and explained why she traveled with her son to Washington, USA, to attend a regional meeting convened by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in the context of the national rain emergency. and river floods caused by the presence of Cyclone Yaku.
