Former ministers Willy Huerta (internal affairs) and Roberto Sanchez (foreign trade) spoke in RPP News his renunciation of the constitutional charge for the alleged crimes of sedition and conspiracy. This measure has been approved by the Standing Commission and is due to be ratified in Plenary session of the Congress.
Roberto Sanchez reiterated that he never supported or participated in coordinating the coup attempt led by former President Pedro Castillo. In this sense, he criticized the Permanent Commission for approving a constitutional complaint seeking to remove him from office as a congressman.
The parliamentarian claimed that he was able to support, together with his lawyer Domingo Garcia Belaundethat there were no indications of his involvement in what the former president was looking for on December 7.
“I have no instructions, only statements. After the message ended and we heard it with Minister Salas in a nearby place, there remains an attempt and the possibility that I could meet, despite the fact that the witnesses do not mention me, ”he said in an interview with the program Everything is known from RPP news.
Roberto Sanchez He stressed that he never said that day that he supported the coup. Therefore, he asked to consider the video and recordings in his defense.
“Of the 16 different statements made during the actions before, during and after, none of them mention me. Moreover, I urged the subcommittee to attach videos, recordings, but the prosecutor’s office refused, because they said that this was a closed investigation on this stage. However, when the video (Pedro Castillo’s speeches) was released two Sundays ago, it became clear that I was not or coordination, I did not say to the former president “for the country”, but rather “What happened?”, he said.
“Let’s watch the video”
For his part, former Minister Willy Huerta stressed the importance of video surveillance in government palace to show that he was never part of Pedro Castillo’s plans.
“As I have said in Congress, before the publication of an opinion or opinion on this final report, it was requested that the videos that are inside the Government Palace, which will show my journey and behavior until the moment I enter, be viewed. to the Office of the President. It will be proven there that I never met anyone that day, as the Public Ministry stated,” he told La Rotativa del Aire Noche in RPP.
Huerta stated that he was never part of Pedro Castillo’s group of confidants and that with the evidence he presented, he would be able to demonstrate that prosecutors were wrong to want to link him to the case.
“The elements of the guilty verdict presented by the prosecutor’s office do not correspond to reality, because they will be accredited along with the videos, but without these important and significant checks, they are only of a qualifying nature,” he stressed.
