After the decision of MP Betsy Chavez to suspend the work of the personal security service, congressmen from different benches agreed that This situation increased the risk of interfering with the investigation. who are monitored both in Congress and in the prosecutor’s office.

Previously, Chavez Chino said he asked Congress for permission as a result of an illness he did not specify. Similarly, he indicated that he was in the direction of the ministry, without explaining which ministerial portfolio it was.

“Are you planning to flee the country?] No, I’m going to the ministry (…). Yesterday I was in poor health, I submitted a document to the mayor’s office (of Congress),” he said.

Marta Moyano: ‘Mrs Betsy Chavez should be here on Tuesday’

In this regard, the first vice-president of the Congress, Marta Moyano, referred to the case of Betsy Chavez and noted that she must attend the calls made by both the National Prosecutor’s Office and the Parliament itself.

“Ms. Betsy Chavez (…) must appear if she is required by the prosecutor’s office and if she is referred to any part of the trial, including to Congress,” he said.

“On Tuesday, we were already called to the Permanent (commission) to consider the case of Betsy Chavez and other ministers. Everything is procedural. We can’t speed up deadlines against due process because then we’re told we’re violating due process. if Mrs. Betsy Chavez has already stated that everything that was said yesterday about her alleged escape or that she would do without her security is a lie, Mrs. Betsy Chavez should be here on Tuesday.”, he added.

Enrique Wong: “In the case of Juan Silva, one day was enough to escape”

For his part, Congressman Enrique Wong, who is not part of the group, recalled the case of former minister Juan Silva, who, having abandoned personal security, is still a fugitive from justice.

“What was Juan Silva’s background like? Call off the guards, because all the guards must report to the authorities about what this politician is doing. So the first thing he did was take off his guard and he couldn’t report where he was anymore. One day was enough to be able to escape,” he told reporters.

“In the case of Betsy Chavez, because she is a congresswoman, the Subcommittee on Constitutional Charges should remove her parliamentary jurisdiction so that she can go to the Permanent Assembly and then to the plenary session. It can be done faster,” he stressed. .

Hector Ventura: “You can hardly believe that he did not flee the country”

For his part, the President Control CommissionHéctor Ventura has been skeptical of Betsy Chavez’s claims that she is not a fugitive.

“Unlikely (that he is not fleeing the country) because the same officials from the administration of Pedro Castillo said the same thing: Juan Silva, Fray Vasquez. They said they weren’t going to run away and we didn’t know where they were. All work is in the hands of the Minister of Internal Affairs, so that the same thing does not happen again,” he said.

Roberto Sanchez: “Why do we have to do without security?”

Finally, parliamentarian Roberto Sanchez clarified that he had fulfilled all the summonses issued to him by the prosecutor’s office and did not intend to leave the country.

“I go to all the calls that the prosecutor’s office made to me, I attended all the calls that the subcommittee made to me, I attend plenary meetings, at my regular meetings, special commissions. I am here, making statements and I am confirming myself in everything that I have stated,” he said.

“My guards are here with me, they move with me everywhere, and so I go calmer and safer. Why should I do without a service? I am working on the features that I have. The Permanent Commission, we have already been called, I will be there, and I asked to turn on the video. Not at all (I will leave the country). Here I am”, He finished.
