The initiative was taken by Congressman from the People’s Renewal Jorge Montoya. The legislator supported it, and it was quickly approved at the plenary session. In addition, it was decided that on Thursday, 9th, starting at 15:00, the minister would arrive to respond to the request document.

He plenary session of the Congress approved a few hours before two interpellations against Minister of Internal Affairs respond to the intervention of the PPP in San Marcos and on the streets of Lima; while the other focuses specifically on the police intrusion into the training center.

The first vote was taken by 47 votes to 37, with 11 abstentions; while the second received 60 votes in favor, 20 against and nine abstentions. Both interpellation sheets contain a total of 65 questions.

Vicente Romero: “I did it for the love of the country”

Interior Minister Vicente Romero assured that he would have no problem responding to the request documents, but specified that congressmen would take over possible censorship.

“Any political power is subject to this. If they have to censor me, well, I did it out of the best of desire to serve my country, which is why I accepted this briefcase during such a difficult time that the country was going through. Tell me who can take such a tough and difficult position at a very difficult time for the country. But I did it out of love for the country,” the official told media after the event.
