The government of Dina Boluarte has appointed its representatives this Thursday, February 23, in front of the Embassy of Peru in the United States of America and the Organization of American States (OAS)., as established by two supreme resolutions published in the official gazette El Peruano.
By Resolution of the Supreme Council No. 035-2023-RE, the executive branch appointed diplomat Gustavo Mesa-Cuadra Velazquez as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to USA.
The Boluarte Zegarra administration also appointed former Minister of Justice and Human Rights Gustavo Adriansen Olaya as Peru’s permanent representative to OASbased in Washington DC, in USAin accordance with the Decree of the Supreme Council No. 036-2023-RE.
Both legal provisions are signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ana Gervasi Diazand the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte.
In addition, they establish that the date on which both officials will take over the functions will be fixed by means of a ministerial decree.
Gustavo Mesa Cuadra
The newly appointed Ambassador of Peru to USA, Gustavo Mesa CuadraHe holds a degree in international relations and is a career diplomat. He holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins Universities (USA) and Paris (France).
He has held various positions in the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director General of Sovereignty and Restrictions, Advisor to the Minister of Law of the Sea, and Director of Integration.
Gustavo Mesa-Cuadra tHe was also Deputy Director of the United Nations. In addition, he has represented Peru in various countries including the UK, France, USA and Guatemala, as well as at the United Nations in New York.
Among other awards and distinctions, he has the order “El Sol del Peru”, Grand Cross, 2019; Order of José Gregorio Paz Soldan, Grand Cross, 2019; Distinguished Service Order, Grand Cross, 2011; Order of Isabelle La Católica, Commander, 2002
Gustavo Adriansen
New Permanent Representative of Peru to OAS, Gustavo Adriansen, bachelor and lawyer from the University of Lima. He also holds a degree in law from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid (Spain), a degree he obtained after recognition of his professional title.
He is also a specialist in public administration and public administration, holding a master’s degree in public administration and administration from the National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) in Madrid, a center where he also received a second course diploma in Public Policy for Development.Soc.
