The National Electoral Jury (JNE) emphasized that all reports published by international observation missions confirm 2021 general election and 2022 regional and municipal elections.
These documents can be found in the book “Elections under a Magnifying Glass”, which contains the final reports of election observation missions sent to our country by various international organizations and institutions.
This new edition, unlike the first, contains part of the reports submitted by six organizations that participated as observers in the 2022 regional and municipal elections, including the Organization of American States (OAS), Inter-American Union of Electoral Authorities (junior) And Andean Parliament.
“All reports agree in favoring both the 2021 general elections and the 2022 regional and municipal elections, which they concluded were conducted in a transparent and fair manner despite the challenging scenario presented by the covid-19 pandemic. that have influenced the country and the world,” the electoral body points out.
JNE president’s words
In this regard, the president of JNE, Jorge Salas Arenasstressed the work of the electoral system, which was faced with the task of holding democratic, free and consistent elections in a highly unstable environment to consolidate national and subnational political power.
“The vote that took place in 2021 was another general process, with incidents already known to everyone, but the results of which were ratified by the JNE plenary meeting, which confirmed its commitment to resolve cases with full independence and impartiality, in accordance with the Constitution and the law”, refers to the presentation of the volume.
The magistrate underlined that a lot of effort had been put into the effective development of all stages of the electoral cycle, the introduction of procedures and innovations, which were assessed satisfactorily by the observer missions in detail.
In addition, he assured that in both processes, the Peruvian electoral authorities have provided all the facilities necessary for each visiting institution to achieve their respective working goals, so that they can carry out free, transparent and independent observation.
The book of over 900 pages includes, in addition to reports from the OAS, Uniore and the Andean Parliament, reports relevant to the European Union, the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), the Permanent Conference of Political Parties Latin America and the Caribbean (Copppal), the Institute for Democracy and Elections (Idemoe) and other.
