At the plenary session, 69 were in favour, 35 were against and 7 abstained. Congress approved this Friday to reopen the debate on the progress of the general election; that is, the Constitutional Commission may return to this issue after expanding the agenda and discussing it during the current annual period of sessions.
Before the vote, Congressman Jorge Montoya (People’s Renewal) moved a motion to drop the issue from plenary session. “Because of this issue, we lost seven plenary sessions (…) The case was considered and closed. Fix it,” he said.
“The possibility that the case will be referred to the Constitutional Commission so that the commission, in this annual period of sessions, which ends in July, can discuss the bill. [en la Comisión de Constitución] It should have a publishing deadline and only after that will it go to the plenary session of Congress,” he said. Joseph Williams, the president Congress.
It should be noted that at the end of the ordinary legislature today, election promotion cannot be given for this year 2023. For this reason, MP flower pablo medinaasked the President of Parliament for the third time to extend the term of the legislature and suspend the week of representation in order to resolve the issue.
It should be noted that the representatives of the six benches submitted a request to expand the agenda to “put to the vote the exception established in the final part of the second paragraph of Article 78 of the Standing Orders of Congress, in order to allow the submission and processing of draft constitutional reform laws to speed up elections.”
Thus, the vote that rejected the said case in the first place and sent to the archive was revised.
