congresswoman Maria del Carmen Alva (People’s Action), head of the Commission on Foreign Relations, called “regrettable” and “inappropriate” statements by the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petrowho compared the Peruvian National Police (PNP) to the Nazis.
“Unfortunate statements by President Peter comparing our national police with the Nazi army. These are not the first inappropriate and untimely manifestations of President Peter,” he commented in News extension.
In this sense, he justified that the working group, which he heads, approved the proposal to declare the President of Colombia persona non grata, believing that “we must force ourselves to be respected.”
“In this sentence, we express our opposition to these statements, then we declare Petro persona non grata; and we also call on the Foreign Office and the Interior Ministry to evaluate and consider whether President Petro will enter. (…) Or that he apologizes because we have to force ourselves to be respected, ”he sentenced.
Acciopopulista pointed out that Petr’s statements come in a “terrible” context for our country, in connection with the killing of seven police officers in a drug-terrorist ambush over the weekend in the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro River Valley (VRAEM).
“This is a lack of respect. If this happened in Germany, it would be practically a crime. They cannot talk about the Nazi troops, about the Nazi army, comparing it with the police. This is a lack of national respect,” he said.
What did Gustavo Petro say?
Without direct reference to the National Police, Gustavo Petro He drew comparisons to the Nazi regime, commenting on footage of police officers marching in downtown Lima.
“In Peru, they are marching like Nazis against their own people, violating the American Convention on Human Rights,” the President of Colombia said during a speech.
