In a formal letter, Arbitration Bloc Congresswoman Cathy Ugarte forwarded to Oversight Commission President Hector Ventura a request from former President Pedro Castillo to intervene as a witness in “Angie’s Case” be done in person. Supported the request Eduardo Pachasformer president’s lawyer.
Given this, Ventura pointed out that Castillo Terrones and his defense intend to interfere with the investigation. on alleged corruption offenses in the implementation of projects in Angii, Chachapoyas and Chadina, as well as projects funded by the Ministry of Housing. It should be noted that the investigations are carried out according to the version of a criminal organization sent from the Government Palace and headed by the former president himself.
“Again they want to interfere, divert the investigations that we are conducting on this supposedly criminal organization, to interfere with investigative actions. Don’t the lawyer know it’s forbidden legally that the one who is serving a preliminary detention can leave the pre-trial detention center?” the head of the inspectorate asked.
“The single ordered text of the Penal Code in Article 43 states that only prisoners in connection with the birth of children, personal walks or illness can leave with permission. This is not a fact of Pedro Castillo. Once again, Pedro Castillo’s defense sees a way to get in the way.”, he added.
Pedro Castillo’s declaration was postponed
During the session Control Commission, Héctor Ventura said that a new date would be requested so that former President Castillo could attend in person to make his statements. If this is not possible, he clarified that, in agreement with the head of INPE, he would take into account his dismissals at the facilities of the specified institution.
“A new date will be requested so that witness Pedro Castillo Terrones can testify in person. or, failing that, by prior arrangement with the head of INPE, we could base ourselves in Barbadillo facilities to take the testimony of former President Pedro Castillo Terrones,” he stressed.
