An interim supra-provincial criminal prosecutor specializing in crimes of terrorism and related crimes, based in Pichari, on Monday opened an investigation into an attack on a car belonging to National Police in the populated center of Natividad (La Convention, Cusco). As a result of this event, seven soldiers were killed and one was wounded.
The incident took place on Saturday, February 11, when police officers from the Natividad police station were driving along the highway of the said city, belonging to the valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro (Vrayem) rivers.
Staff Public service ordered urgent action to be taken to facilitate the investigation. Among them, the removal of corpses and their transfer to the headquarters of the prosecutor’s office in Pichari.
Similarly, the bodies were taken to Ayacucho Medical and Legal Division II, located in the province of Huamanga, where appropriate official autopsies were performed. The remains arrived this Monday at the Police Aviation Authority in Lima.
These are non-commissioned officers of the PNP Alfredo Loayza Carbajal, Luis Alberto Cerron Palacios, Wilder Eliseo Conosco, Ivan Muñoz Fasabi, Sandro Lorenzo Villegas Coraiua and Williams Quispe Anchai. All of them received corresponding awards from members National Police as martyrs of their institution.
The six coffins were transported to the Diroes headquarters in Ata, where a ceremony was held at which the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte.
Interior Minister: There will be no impunity
Minister of Internal Affairs, Vincent Romeropointed out that the murder of seven policemen killed by drug terrorists in the area of the valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro (Vray) rivers would not go unpunished.
“We will not allow these crimes to go unpunished. We will honor the memory of our brave non-commissioned officers who leave their families in pain when they fall in the line of duty,” he said.
Romero announced that in the area where the attacks took place, work will be resumed to eradicate terrorism and drug trafficking in a firm and determined manner. “The Peruvian National Police (PNP) is working diligently and constantly to be able to eradicate both scourges that are undoubtedly related to the illegal economy in the outlying areas of the country,” he said.
