Head of the Ministry of Health (Mr.Minsa), Rose Gutierrezassured that the country had overcome the fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which began in early December 2022.
“After these three years of the pandemic that our country and the whole world has experienced, today we can tell you that we have managed to overcome this fifth wave,” the minister said at a press conference.
“The fifth wave, which really left us dead, but we can also tell you that we left many services and many patients without surgery, and today we started doing this surgical discharge,” he added.
In this regard, the minister stressed that during the two months of her tenure, 1,300 patients were operated on “with resounding success”. However, the gap is still large as he estimates that more than 90,000 patients are awaiting surgery.
As part of your balance Rose Gutierrez emphasized the procurement of bivalent vaccines against COVID-19, which have been administered to more than 274,000 people to date, including medical personnel and the elderly.
“I want to thank the whole country through this medium, which contributes to getting these vaccines of ours,” he said.

Recall that this week Minsa reported that Peru had administered more than 87 million vaccines since the first doses against the disease arrived two years ago.
On the occasion of National COVID-19 Vaccination Day, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that from February 2021 to present, 93.98% of the population over 12 years old received the first dose, 90.27% the second and 74.11% the third.
