Peru Libre General Secretary Vladimir Cerrón confirmed that the former President Pedro Castillo never made a revolution. In this sense, he stated that the ex-president never seized government offices and that Congress illegally removed him from power.
“For me, Pedro Castillo did not carry out a coup. He tried to stage a coup d’état, which failed, he failed. None of the institutions were captured. The revolution was carried out by Congress. by making a clear vacancy without due process and with a vote below what is required by the rules of Parliament,” he said in press statements.
On the other hand, he stressed the importance of constituent Assembly seek renewal in Parliament.
“The priority of the party is constituent Assembly. Nothing will change here if the rules of power are not changed, power relations are established in this document. Otherwise, we would hold new elections, elect a new parliament and continue to hate it, there would be no point in this. I believe that the elections should be complementary, we do not support the re-election of congressmen or bicameralism,” he said.
Cerrón emphasized that his group was not behind the marches against the current government, but supported its program such as the resignation of Dina Boluarte and the Constituent Assembly.
“We did not organize any protest, this is a spontaneous agenda of the peoples of the south, but we agree with their agenda,” he said.

In an interview channel NCerron confirmed that there is a political bias in the recent verdict and that he will appeal against it, pointing out that he never colluded.
“After winning the elections in the first round in 2021, we received a whole cascade of complaints and I received 20 criminal proceedings, these complaints have a political motive, because the party carries a change in the political constitution as its flag (…) I have never met with the bidders so that there is a process of collusion and the state is never hurt a penny so they raise a civil damages of two million sols (regarding the decision of the appeal) I hope this is not the case Electric or Express as they have been acting with for a long time me,” he said.
Cerrón explained that in the case of the airfield at Junin, there was no economic damage to the country and that the prosecutor’s hypothesis was incorrect.
“MEF notifies after the regional ordinances have been issued and published in the El Peruano newspaper that no one challenged them. They say that they should be responsible for the investments that will be made. The MEF is presented only when money needs to be touched from the treasury, which was not the case. About three months later, a new rule was issued that says that everyone without exception must attend the MEF, but the rule cannot be applied retroactively,” he explained.
