legislator Hernando Guerra Garcia (People’s Power), Chairman of the Constitutional Commission, represented before plenary session of the Congress a replacement text that proposes by-elections for this December.
The paper submitted by Fujimorista at the beginning of the session on Wednesday proposes additional general election will be held in December, at which a new president and congressmen will be elected to complete the period 2021-2026. The new officials will take office on May 1, 2024.

“The President of the Republic, who has been in office since January 2023, calls a general by-election in 2023 to be held in December 2023. Her term of office ends on April 30, 2024, except for the period provided for in Article 112. President of the Republic The Republic, elected in the by-general elections of 2023, ends the constitutional period of 2021-2026. He takes the oath and takes office from May 1, 2024, except for the period established by Article 116, and ends his term on July 28, 2026,” reads the replacement text.
“Congressmen of the Republic elected in the 2021 General Elections end their representation on April 29, 2024, except for the period provided for in Article 90. congressmen of the republic Elected in the 2023 general by-election, they take office on April 30, 2024 and end their term on July 26, 2026,” he added.
