The government ordered this Thursday the permanent recall of the Peruvian ambassador to Honduras following recent statements by the President of that Central American country, Chiomara Castroabout the socio-political crisis that has engulfed the country.
“The government has finally recalled the Peruvian ambassador to Honduras in response to the unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of President Xiomara Castro in her CELAC speech, ignoring the constitutional government of President Dina Boluarte,” the Foreign Ministry said on social media.
Torre Tagle points out that due to the position of the government HondurasPeru’s bilateral relations with that country “will be maintained indefinitely at the level of business managers.”
Xiomara Castro on top of Selak
The statement of Peruvian diplomacy came two days after the President of Honduras called the alleged “coup d’état” Dina Boluarte as President of Peru and express solidarity with the “legitimately elected” President Pedro Castillo, from whom she demanded his “immediate release”.
Earlier, at the beginning of his speech at the summit celac held in Argentina, Castro said that the region is going through a “critical moment” when “the right does not rest” and is “constant aggression” against the peoples of the region.
“Only by uniting can we defend ourselves against the ferocious attacks of neo-fascism, which seeks to impose on our peoples the vested interests of the great economic powers,” said the president, who took office almost a year ago, ahead of the rest of the heads of state and government of 33 countries in the region.
“The right does not rest. They talk cynically about development and plan coups. With the help of their media apparatus, economic boycott and political persecution, “justice”, they support permanent aggression against our peoples,” he stressed.
In addition, the President of Honduras condemned “the policy of aggression and the economic boycott against Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.”
Foreign Ministry requires the Ambassador of Chile
Ministry of Foreign Affairsthrough Deputy Foreign Minister Ignacio Higueras, conveyed to the Chilean Ambassador on Wednesday about the dissatisfaction caused by what they call disrespectful the way President Gabriel Boric mentioned President Dina Boluarte in his CELAC speech.
“(The Vice-Chancellor) told him that the course taken by the constitutional government of President Boluarte was to promote general elections so that the Peruvians decide the fate of Peru unhindered and peacefully. The government will not change the course of democratic institutions,” reads the Foreign Ministry’s Twitter account.
Gabriel Boric appealed to the government Dina Boluarte “change of course” in the face of the “unacceptable” violence that is taking place in the country, referring to the 54 deaths that have been recorded since protests began calling for the president’s resignation.
“We cannot remain indifferent when today, in our sister country Peru, people who go on the march and declare what they think is fair end up being shot by those who should protect them,” Boric said during his speech on Celac summit.
