Belarus, Russia and China are not on the list of states supporting the initiative.

The European Union, USA and 55 other countries in the world have presented the Declaration of the Future of the Internet.

The essence of the document is to promote the freedom, openness, reliability and security of the Internet.

Its signatories pledged to “promote a free, open, global, interoperable, reliable and secure” Internet for the entire world.

Among the written principles are the protection of human rights and freedoms, the promotion of a global Internet with free flow of information, the development of inclusive and accessible communications, the promotion of trust in the global digital ecosystem, specifically by protecting privacy and combating cybercrime, and strengthening a multilateral Internet governance strategy.

The signatories expressed serious concern about authoritarian governments ’suppression of Internet freedom, the use of digital tools to violate human rights, cyberattacks, the spread of illegal content, disinformation and the excessive concentration of economic power. They are working together to eliminate these phenomena and dangers.

Participants agree on the declaration that digital technologies can contribute to democracy, peace, rule of law and sustainable development.

The Declaration refers to the risk of Internet fragmentation, including in relation to threats by the Russian government to completely or partially disconnect from the global network, as well as abuses that present themselves in cyberattacks, online censorship and disinformation.

An event is scheduled for this summer where partners will discuss with the community prior to the Declaration how the document can support the future of the Internet.

It is emphasized that the declaration is not legally valid, but it is intended to be used as a starting point for the determination of the Internet policies of the participating States.

It will be recalled, earlier it was found out that during martial law in Ukraine, everyone will be able to use Starlink Internet after completing all the necessary procedures.

Starlink’s representative office is registered in Ukraine
