He noted that His Majesty is looking for time and kind words to support IDPs from Ukraine.
On Wednesday, November 30, First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska met with King Charles III of Great Britain. He announced it on Instagram.
The wife of the Ukrainian president, together with the monarch, visited the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London. The London Ukrainian Welcoming Center is located there, where refugees who have sought asylum because of the war in our country are temporarily living.
The King wished all Ukrainians a Merry Christmas and received a special gift from Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski. The priest handed the monarch a framed picture.
“We have a photograph that has become famous throughout the world…” – said the bishop.
The monarch began to laugh after receiving the gift. The framed photo was found to be of him as a young man dancing the traditional hopak in 1981 with a group of folk dancers in Derby.
“This was done when you were in Derby, visiting the Ukrainian community. I must say that in the whole Ukrainian diaspora this is one of our most cherished photographs, and I want you to get it,” added Bishop Nowakovsky.
The First Lady thanked the British monarch for the UK’s assistance to Ukraine.
“This is not the first time that His Majesty has found time and kind words to support internally displaced people from Ukraine: he recently visited them in Scotland, even earlier – in Romania,” said Zelenska.
